Commemorating Those Who Passed Away Through Tree Planting
In order to create this return to nature conservation project, we are offering a sponsorship. Each sponsorship includes the scattering or planting the cremains (ashes) of up to 5 people/pets, per tree. Each tree sponsorship includes: Selecting your tree’s setting and tree species. A remembrance page at our Sunset Sanctuary Memories Minnesota site where you can save photos of loved ones and create a unique writeup celebrating their lives. Each tree has a specific GPS locator pin to continue locating over the years.
The cost is $2,995 per tree sponsorship.
By selecting a site as part of our conservation project the legacy of those at the Sanctuary will help reclaim the environment. Also, it will ensure that your final resting place is environmentally friendly, helping future generations at a very affordable cost compared to traditional burial.
Nature is not just a place to visit. It's home.
Trees help play a critical role in our lives by reducing carbon dioxide from their surrounding environment and releasing oxygen for all of us to breathe. An adult tree can change approximately 48 pounds of carbon into oxygen annually; enough oxygen for two humans to breathe for an entire year. By decreasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and increasing oxygen, tree help limit global warming by providing a cleaner, healthier environment.
Trees provide an entire ecosystem for animals, insects and other wildlife. A single tree provides dozens of habitats, populated by thousands of different species.
Trees also improve our mental health. Spending time in a forest is known to reduce stress, anger, and feelings of depression. The effects are not only felt, they can be measured by a slower heartbeat, lower blood pressure, and altered brain waves.
Trees for a better tomorrow
Another goal at Sunset Sanctuary is to be a safe haven to Minnesota’s thousands of types of pollinators and support their growth. By creating a diverse garden full of wildflowers that bloom all season long, pollen and nectar will be provided spring, summer and fall. Minnesota Native Grasses and Wildflowers provide pollinators, such as butterflies and native bees, both homes and food so they can thrive.
Pollinators are a “Keystone Species”, meaning that a large number of other species depend on them for their existence. Pollinators are also considered an “Indicator Species” with their well being connected intimately with the overall health of the environment. Pollinators are on the decline due to habitat loss, invasive species and misuse of pesticides.
