When we set out to create Sunset Sanctuary, we knew the land had to feel like more than a beautiful place — it had to feel like a destination families would want to return to, again and again, through all the seasons of grief and gratitude.
Farmington, Minnesota answered that call in every way. Tucked in Dakota County, it sits within easy reach of Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Rochester — close enough that a visit never feels like an undertaking, yet far enough that the quiet wraps around you the moment you arrive. Families from across the region can find their way here without hardship, which matters deeply to us.
“We wanted a place that could hold both sorrow and joy — sometimes on the very same afternoon.”
The land itself is what truly won our hearts. One hundred acres of protected conservation ground rolls gently across the Minnesota landscape in soft hills and quiet valleys. At its center rests a magnificent 35-acre pond, teeming with herons, ducks, and the peaceful sounds of water. Families tell us that sitting at its edge is where they feel closest to the ones they love.
